Wearable Wake-up System for CCHS Patients

چکیده

Abstract Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS) leads to insufficient breathing especially during sleep. While patients can be ventilated and monitored the night, adolescents undergo changes in their biorhythm lifestyle are at higher risk inadvertently fall asleep stop day. In this paper, we propose a prototype mobile wake-up device worn behind both ears that constantly measures oxygen saturation heart rate noninvasively. If dangerously low level of is detected, it assumed user fell asleep. To wake them, issues an acoustic haptic alarm. The settings accessed via smartphone app. evaluate sensor performance, subject simultaneously wore his commercial finger pulse oximeter on hand. Heart blood were taken for three measurements few minutes each. Mean absolute error was less than 2 % two data sets 6.1 %for third. It measurement, lost contact skin. measurement showed satisfactory agreement < 4 mean average error. future, quality will improved by calibration more reliable attachment ear study conducted order usability.

Wake up your patients!

In 1998, Thomas L. Petty expressed his concern about deep sedation and suggested a new link between sedation and severe complications.(1) His phrasing emphasized that it is not the underlying disease, but the physicians themselves that cause the gloomy situation he experienced in his intensive care unit (ICU). As more evidence supporting his theory has emerged, Petty’s editorial seems even more...

Adaptive Sleep-Wake Discrimination for Wearable Devices

Sleep/wake classification systems that rely on physiological signals suffer from intersubject differences that make accurate classification with a single, subject-independent model difficult. To overcome the limitations of intersubject variability, we suggest a novel online adaptation technique that updates the sleep/wake classifier in real time. The objective of the present study was to evalua...
